SUPPLY SECTION
Supply section of the Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs deals with the supply of
Public Distribution System commodities, viz. Rice, Wheat, Sugar, and Edible Oil etc. through Fair Price Shops spread in villages all over the State. Since last two years,
supply of sugar and edible oil has been stopped by the Department to these Fair Price Shops due to availability of these commodities in open market at less price compared to Govt. fixed prices.
Presently, the Department is supplying rice under various schemes introduced by the Central Government viz. Above Poverty Line (APL), Below Poverty Line (BPL), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Annapurna.
For the ration cardholders under APL, 25 kgs. of rice and 10 kgs. of wheat per person is supplied at present. There is no much demand for rice under this category due to availability of rice in open market at lesser prices. There are about 303708 ration cardholders under this category covering 1391096 populations.
There are 18857 BPL cardholders in the State covering 89008 population and they are supplied 35 kgs. of rice per card @ Rs. 6.15 per kg.
AAY scheme introduced by the Central Government is for the poorest of the poor person. Under this scheme, 6801 yellow colour cards have been issued by the Department so far with population of 29364. Under the
scheme the Department has issued 6801 yellow colour cards so far, with population of 29364. Under the scheme, 35 kgs of rice is supplied to each cardholder @ Rs. 3.00 per kg.
Annapurna is the scheme introduced for the benefit of destitute and other similarly placed persons under which, 10 kgs.of rice is supplied to the card holders free of cost. So
far 608 sky blue colour cards have been issued under the scheme covering 608 populations.
