Procedure of the Consumer Disputes Redressal Agencies:-

1. The complaint is filed by the Complainant against any person for faults in goods and commodities and/or deficiencies in services, with the necessary information detailed out.

2. A notice/summons is sent to the opposite party/parties, to appear in the Forum or Commission, as the case may be, on the stipulated day, date and time. He is also required to furnish a reply to the complaint of the complainant; a copy of which is send to him along with the summons. This reply is to be made by the opposite party within 30days from the date of receipt of the notice.

3. On receipt of the reply by the opposite party, the copy of it is given to the complainant and he is asked to file Affidavit – in – Evidence, 

4. Approximately, within 15 days from that date. This Affidavit is a reply of the complainant to the opposite party’s reply to complaint.

5. On the next date of hearing, the copy of the Affidavit – in – Evidence is given to the opposite party, and he is told to file Affidavit – in – reply.

6. On the next date of hearing, when the opposite party files the Affidavit – in – reply, a date is fixed for final argument of both the parties.

7. After hearing the parties, on the next stipulated date, the case is kept for Judgment and Order.

The appeal on the Orders of the lower Dispute Redressal Agencies i.e. District Forums or State Commission is to be made to the higher Dispute Redressal Agencies i.e. State Commission or National Commission, respectively within a period of 30 days from the date of the Order.
